On September 28, H.E. LIU Fei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the FSM hosted a reception to celebrate the 58th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China at Cliff Rainbow Hotel in Pohnpei. Over 100 guests, including H.E. Alik Alik, FSM Acting President and Mrs. Alik, Hon. Mrs. Jane Chigiyal, Acting Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Leo Falcom of the former Presiden, Hon. Peter Christian of the former Speaker, Senators of FSM Congress, government officials, representatives of diplomatic missions, local Chinese businessmen and their families, attended the reception. Ambassador LIU, on behalf of the Chinese Government and the Embassy, and Mr. Kandhi Eliersar, on behalf of the FSM Government made remarks respectively.
At the reception, the Chinese Embassy displayed various vegetables and fruits harvested from the Pilot Farm as well as books, DVDs and CDs on China's history, economy, culture, business etc. All the guests warmly congratulated Ambassador LIU on the Chinese National Day which is on October 1, enjoyed the food including vegetable and watermelon from the Pilot Farm and local dance performances, and wished the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games a success.
