The Ground-Breaking Ceremony of Pohnpei State Administration Building Project Funded by the Government of the People's Republic of China

On November 16, 2007, the Ground-Breaking Ceremony of Pohnpei State Administration Building Project funded by the Government of the People's Republic of China to the Federated States of Micronesia was held at the work-site of Pohnpei State Government. H.E. President Emmanuel Mori, National government officials and Congressmen, Hon. Governor of Pohnpei State Johnny P. David, Pohnpei State government officials and legislators, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, traditional leaders and hundreds of local people attended the Ceremony. H.E. LIU Fei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of P. R. China to the FSM, and representatives from China Ningbo Construction Group Co., Ltd that will conduct the construction of the Project were invited. President Emmanuel Mori, Ambassador LIU, Governor Johnny David and traditional leader Iso Nahnken Salvadore Iriarte of Nett made remarks respectively.

In his remarks, President Mori presented his compliments to the historical friendship between China and FSM, and expressed his gratitude to the grant from the Chinese Government. Governor David said the Project made his dream over the years come true.

Ambassador LIU said that the Project is a good indication of the genuine friendship and sound relationship between China and FSM. China is willing to consistently consolidate and develop the friendly and cooperative relationship and continue to work with the FSM side to advance the friendship and cooperation between the two countries for even greater success. Ambassador LIU also expressed her confidence that the Project will be finished with high quality and 'China Speed'. The Project, when completed, will present to Pohnpei people a two-storey, most beautiful, multi-purposed and modern office building.

Ambassador LIU, President Emmanuel Mori, Governor Johnny David and Mr. QI Huawei, manager of China Ningbo Construction Group Co., Ltd laid the foundation for the Project.
