On November 23, 2006, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister He Yafei met with Claude Philip, Vice Speaker of the Micronesian Congress, who is visiting China at the invitation of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

He reviewed the developments of bilateral ties in recent years, expressing willingness to work with the Micronesian side to expand cooperation in economy, trade and other areas, and push for bilateral ties. Both sides also exchanged views on the Taiwan question.

Philip said the Micronesian government and people cherish their friendly ties with China and thank for China's support and assistance. He reaffirmed Micronesia's adherence to the one-China policy, adding that such a position will never change.
