On September 28, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in the FSM held a reception to celebrate the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China and the assumption of office of Ambassador Wu Wei. About 180 guests from all walks of life attended the event, including Hon. Aren B. Palik, Vice President of the FSM, Hon. Esmund B. Moses, Speaker of the FSM Congress, Hon. Quincy Lawrence, Floor Leader of the FSM Congress, and Senators of the FSM Congress, Hon. Brendy Carl, Acting Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the FSM, and officials of the FSM government, senators and officials of Pohnpei State, and other dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of Chinese enterprises, and overseas Chinese. Ambassador Wu Wei and Hon. Vice President Palik delivered speeches respectively.

Ambassador Wu elaborated on China's great achievements over the past 74 years, and the bright prospects and optimistic expectations of China's development. Wu shared China's position of developing China-FSM friendship and deepening the practical cooperation between the two countries.

Hon. Vice President Palik highly praised China's development achievements, and said that the FSM will continue to firmly support the one-China policy, advance the development of FSM-China relations, and bring greater benefits to the two countries and the two peoples. Palik welcomed Ambassador Wu to his new post.

At the reception, the Chinese Embassy played short videos recording China's development achievements. The Chinese teacher from the College of Micronesia-FSM performed Chinese martial arts, and her students and young diplomats from the Chinese Embassy gave rendition of famous Chinese songs Jasmine and The Vast Ocean, My Native Place.

The reception proceeded in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The guests sent their heartfelt congratulations on the 74th anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China.
