Notice on the Current Chinese Visa Policy

In accordance with the pandemic situation and the latest relevant arrangement, the current Chinese visa policy and requirements are as follows.

I. Visas May Be Issued to

1. Applicants holding diplomatic, service passports, going to China as crew members of international transportation, or eligible for courtesy visas.

2. Applicants going to China for work or projects and their family members, including spouses, parents, children under the age of 18, parents of the spouse. Adult children and their spouses applying for visas need to submit appropriate statements as required by the consular officer.

3. Family members of Chinese citizens, or family members of foreigners with the Chinese permanent residence permit. Family members include: spouses, parents, parents-in-law, children, spouses of children, siblings, grandparents and  grandchildren.

4. Applicants going to China for funerals or visiting critically ill relatives, including spouses, parents, parents-in-law, children, spouses of children, siblings, grandparents and  grandchildren.

5. Applicants approved to go to China by Chinese authorities.

II. Reminders

1. For emergency humanitarian situation, such as those for funerals or visits to critically ill relatives in China, please submit documents as below: the identity document of the deceased or the ill relative (e.g. the foreigner’s passport, etc.), a kinship certificate or proof, a death certificate or a certificate of diagnosis, critical illness notice issued by a hospital, etc.

2. Applicants are required to submit COVID-19 vaccination certificates. The COVID-19 vaccine should be one of those approved by China or the World Health Organization for emergency use or marketing.

3. Online application at https://cova.mfa.gov.cn/ is required before applicants come to the Embassy in person for interview. To apply for the Health Declaration Form, passengers should take two COVID-19 PCR tests, with the first PCR test taken within 48 hours before departure and the second PCR test taken within 24 hours before departure, and the second test should be taken at least 24 hours later than the former.
